March 17th

Happy St. Patrick's Day to our Second Grade Family.  The children look so festive decked out in the GREEN today.
The Easter Holiday is quickly approaching and we know how challenging it can be with a family.  So next week will be a homework free week!

The children are now learning about the sacraments.  Recognizing the Sacraments of Initiation - they are growing physically and SPIRITUALLY.  Reading will bring us to Fairy Tales and Folktales.  You will be happily surprised around Mother's Day to  witness what they are capable of doing.  Math still challenges the children and they continue to reach for the stars.

Thank you for all your continued support!!
Have a Happy and Holy Easter.

February 26th

Hope everyone survived the storm.  Today we took the practice test for the Terra Nova Testing.  The children will not have homework next week.  We discussed that a good night's sleep and a nutrition rich breakfast would be beneficial.  Please send your child to school with at least four sharpened #2 pencils and erasers.  Because the testing is administered in the morning it is important that the children arrive on time.  The children may bring in a personal book to read and a small stuffed animal to be used as the finish.  The afternoons will be filled with fun educational activities.  We have a journal piece scheduled to entice the students to use their best writing skills and observation.  They will be writing to describe their favorite candy and then presenting the piece to the other second grade class.  Another writing piece will be connected to our story …Gloria..  In the story her and her friend constructed kites that possessed their personal wishes on the tail.  We hope to build our own wishing kites.
Thank you for all your continued support.

January 27th

Hope everyone survived the Blizzard of 2016.  The children came back with some great stories.
Yeah! our books arrived and the reaction from the children was priceless.
We have been busy creating our math games.  They will be shared Monday, February 1st.  Hopefully you will have the opportunity to try out the best games ever.  We are finishing up Charlotte's Web.  The best thing about the story for the students were meeting all the characters and learning the difference between the City and the Country.  Our Religion has given us the Laws that God provided for us.
Looking forward to seeing you on Monday.

Happy New Year!!!  It was so great seeing the children's excited faces.  They were so happy to share some of their holiday memories with us.  You and your children have made my holiday special.  I appreciate all your generous wishes.  Thank you for all your do!!

We will be continuing the Charlotte's Web book which we are enjoying.  We are learning about farm life, kindness, responsibility and most of all friendship.  In math our addition skills will be practiced.  Religion brings us to understand the Holy Family.

Hopefully, we all are looking forward to learning and growing in the New Year!!

November 5, 2015

Good Evening, the children have been enjoying the Wild West Unit in reading.  We will be working with Mr, Meyers to have the children learn a cowboy type dance.  We are practicing place value and seem to be mastering that skill.  Please continue to practice basic math addition and subtraction facts.
Today the children created a symbol to represent the Trinity which we will be studying soon. Their creations are beautiful.
We hope to be planning a reward party to appreciate their good choices.  We will be sending more information as the children help make the plans.
Enjoy the weekend!

October 21st

The children are looking forward to the upcoming Saints Parade.  They had the opportunity to meet with their prayer partners.  It was priceless watching the older students caring for the second graders.  Our second grade students were looking at them in awe.
We are continuing to move forward with our academic concepts.  In math we have been focusing on word problems.  Religion has moved to Chapter three and the Prep office has provided a couple of books that were very moving for us.  The children seemed to really appreciate the message of following in Christ's footsteps.  The Wild West will be the theme for our reading.  The children appear to be excited and happy to learn about the Cowboys.
Looking forward to seeing everyone at conference time.

Happy October!  This month is bringing many fun things for our children.  Tomorrow we will have a Fire Prevention Assembly with the Warminster Fire Department arriving with a truck and fire volunteers.  We will thank them for all that they do to keep us safe.   Also the first and second grade students will share a Johnny Appleseed celebration.
Of course the children are gaining excitement over Halloween.
Please enjoy the great Fall Weekend.
