September 28, 2014
Hope you all enjoyed this glorious weekend!  Looking forward to another week of school. Just a little information:  there will not be a reading or spelling assessment this week; we will have a math (Thursday or Friday), Religion (Tuesday), and Sentences (Thursday or Friday).  We will be attending First Friday Mass this week and we will keep you all in our prayers.

I am so sorry if I did not clearly notify all of my second grade family about our party today.  On Monday, Sept. 22nd, I did try to provide as much information as I thought necessary.  I will be more mindful of this in the future.
The children are so excited and funny…happily adding their slippers, showing off their prized possessions.  The laughter and smiles PRICELESS!!!!
Thanks for all you do and enjoy this upcoming beautiful weekend.

Happy Fall!!  The children are very excited because they have reached the ten apple mark.  This translates into a celebration on Friday, September 26th.  We will have a Sleep Over Party…meaning
bringing in their favorite stuffed animal, and they may bring in slippers.  Please clearly mark their shoes and sneakers so we do not mix up the slippers or shoes.  My little angels earned a great report from the sub on Friday as well as the story telling mom.
Thanks for all you do!
Also, I am in the process of compiling the email addresses, thanks for your patience.
We will be creating a fall tree with paint and q-tips.  If you have a few extra hanging around the house please share.  We are in need of old magazines - your trash is our treasure.
THANKS.

Dot Day was a great success.  The children really loved it. They have begun to learn how to type in computer.  Math taught us place value and the children have been successful.  Centers were completed and rainbow writing and constellations proved to be a fun activity.
Our Players of the Day are for Wednesday was Sebastian McNab and Thursday was Maddie Geyer.
Congratulations to all our Math Stars.

Thank you for supporting our International Dot Day celebration.  We read the book The Dot by Peter Reynolds.  It encourages courage and recognizing that we all have special talents.  We created a dot that represented each child and displayed it in the hall.  In math we used dots to create addition problems.  After lunch the children and I went outside to play Twister to culminate the day.  The children seemed to enjoy the Dot Day activities.  Thank you again for all the support.

Hopefully this beautiful weather will stay with us for the school week.  Remarkably the children stayed focused all week.  We are already working towards a 10 Apple positive behavior reward.  The children have discussed the possibilities and have chosen a "Slumber Party" - they would be permitted to bring slippers to school along with a favorite stuffed animal to share the afternoon.  I will be sure to alert you as to the date of this Prized reward.
Also I am planning to celebrate "International Dot" Day.  We will read the book and complete some dot activities.  One that I would love to bring to life is a game with dots - Twister.  Of course we would need at least a few for the children.  If you have a Twister Game and would be willing to share it for an afternoon, I would appreciate it.  "International Dot" Day is Monday, September 15th.
Looking forward to meeting you at Back To School Night (Tuesday, September 9th).

FYI:  homework will begin after I see everyone on Tuesday, night.

Have a great week!

I forgot to tell you about the dreaded contact paper.  Please cover your child's books with contact (the children can identify it better) or brown bags clearly marked.  I would appreciate this task being completed by September 10th.  Hopefully this week will help you out.  THANKS!

Second grade students have been troopers enduring the hot, humid weather.  Even with the heat we have been having fun doing the following things:  walking with Jesus sneakers, talking about and completing an activity  for "If You Take a Mouse to School"; creating a tee-shirt showing something fun they did during the summer.  Because of their sensational behavior we enjoyed extra recess time and earned two apples.  When we accumulate 10 we will have a celebration.
Thank you so much for all your support and sharing your child with me.
