Hopefully you enjoyed a productive weekend getting ready for the Holiday.
The students are working on their song for the concert.  They are looking forward to performing for you.  I know that some of you also have a child in the band and will be attending that on Tuesday night.  Due to the busy time of the
year we have cancel homework until after the holiday.  We will work harder during the school day.

Enjoy the holiday preparation with your family!

Hello Friends!!

Welcome back!!  We hope you had a lovely and blessed Thanksgiving break.

Looking ahead this week:
Important dates:
Giving Tuesday- Tuesday November 28th
First Friday Mass- December 1st

Included in last week's office news was the attachment for family placards to be used during car line. The new car line procedures will begin today.  You must have your yellow placard for students to be released. Please see email from office regarding this new procedure.

As we prepared for the joyous season of Advent, we are quickly getting our room ready.  In our classrooms we have a classroom Christmas tree.  We thought it would be nice for each student to bring in 1 ornament to put on the tree. The ornament can be anything they would like (soccer, a holiday Christmas ball, a name ornament, a picture, etc).  These ornaments will be returned the day we leave for Christmas break.  We are asking each student to bring their ornament in this Friday December 1st.

Hello Friends!!!

Tomorrow our friends in Grades 3-8 will be going to see the movie Wonder.  Grades 1 and 2 will be staying behind, but we thought it would be nice to also incorporate a movie focusing on diversity.  Tomorrow we will be watching the movie Zootopia, and celebrating our differences and focusing on acceptance.

Also, I am sending home scholastic flyers.  There are many great opportunities for Christmas gifts.  If you would like to place an order please use:
clubs.scholastic.com.  Our class code is RRMMM.  I will be placing the order December 1st to ensure that you receive them before the holiday.
If you do place an order and it is a gift, please let me know.

September 18, 2017

Good Afternoon,
Hopefully everyone enjoyed the weekend with your families.  We have begun our week with the following academic tasks:
Religion - we have been reviewing Chapter 1 for our assessment tomorrow
Math - we are continuing our skills working with place-value
Reading - we are being our new story, The Family - increasing our vocabulary knowledge and reading skills focusing on the beginning, middle and the end.

I know the homework sheet which was in your Back To School folder did not have the math page on it.  The page will always depend on how well the students
understand the concept.  So for tonight the page is P11, I completed half this page with the students.

Thanks for all you support.

September 6, 2017

Our new second graders are amazing.  They have brought such excitement into room 204 and I thank you so very much for sharing them with me.

Our first day was perfect.  Smiles and stories shared by all of the students.  They were eager to show off their reading skills and it was impressive.  They loved answering math problems and were very proud to do it.  Our Religion offered an opportunity to embrace kindness and respect which is our theme for the year.  Hopefully they all arrived home with smiles on their faces.

Today was another productive and happy!

Respectfully,
Judy

After spending time in the classroom I am looking forward to greeting the new second grade children.
Just interacting with them last year I know that they will be arriving with smiles on their face and curiosity in their hearts.
Enjoy the remaining summer days!

See you soon!!

March 14, 2017

Hope everyone survived the storm.  We will be taking  the practice test for the Terra Nova Testing on Thursday or Friday.  The children will not have homework next week.  We discussed that a good night's sleep and a nutrition rich breakfast would be beneficial.  Please send your child to school with at least four sharpened #2 pencils and erasers.  Because the testing is administered in the morning it is important that the children arrive on time.  The children may bring in a personal book to read and a small stuffed animal to be used as they finish.  The afternoons will be filled with fun educational activities.  We have a Narrative writing piece scheduled to entice the students to use their best writing skills and observation.  They will be writing a story and  presenting the piece.
Thank you for all your continued support.

February 17,  2017

Good Morning,
Hopefully the children have shared some of their exciting news this week.  We are reading
"Ah, Music" by Aliki.  It discussed the components needed to create music.  So we have been working on an original piece to be shared with our first grade friends.  Today the fifth graders marched in a States Parade.  Happily showing off their projects.   Charlotte's Web is one of my favorite chapter books and the second grade has begun the process of reading it.  They seem to be enjoying the idea of reading a chapter book.
Math has presented two step problems for us to solve.  A challenge to be sure and the children have been willing to work tirelessly to master the art of problem solving.
In Religion the class is learning about the Sacraments.  We have discovered that the Sacraments nourish our souls.

FYI:  the students will be competing against the teachers in a basketball....come and join in the fun.  You can cheer your favorite player on to winning.  It will be held on Saturday, February 25th at the Community Center Gym.

January 18, 2017

With the New Year in full swing, the children are having a lot of fun creating their math games.
They are becoming learners embracing science, technology, engineering, math.  The excitement that they are sharing is so evident.  They are proud of the products and are anxious to share.  We will host a game try out with their peers.  Congratulations are well deserved with the creativity displayed.

We are beginning a research paper about Polar Bears.  Again they seem to be very excited about learning more about the bear and its habitat.

Math skills are growing as we approach subtraction using break apart and soon we will be regrouping.

We are all looking forward to seeing you at Catholic School Open House - Sunday, January 29th after Masses and Monday, January 30th, 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM.

Thanks for all  your support and help.
