November 5, 2015

Good Evening, the children have been enjoying the Wild West Unit in reading.  We will be working with Mr, Meyers to have the children learn a cowboy type dance.  We are practicing place value and seem to be mastering that skill.  Please continue to practice basic math addition and subtraction facts.
Today the children created a symbol to represent the Trinity which we will be studying soon. Their creations are beautiful.
We hope to be planning a reward party to appreciate their good choices.  We will be sending more information as the children help make the plans.
Enjoy the weekend!

October 21st

The children are looking forward to the upcoming Saints Parade.  They had the opportunity to meet with their prayer partners.  It was priceless watching the older students caring for the second graders.  Our second grade students were looking at them in awe.
We are continuing to move forward with our academic concepts.  In math we have been focusing on word problems.  Religion has moved to Chapter three and the Prep office has provided a couple of books that were very moving for us.  The children seemed to really appreciate the message of following in Christ's footsteps.  The Wild West will be the theme for our reading.  The children appear to be excited and happy to learn about the Cowboys.
Looking forward to seeing everyone at conference time.

Of course the children are gaining excitement over Halloween.

June 2nd

The children should be so proud of themselves.  We have completed all benchmarks and the Religion Final with success.  We are planning a small Literature Celebration for Monday, June 8th.  The students will be making a mask of their favorite character.  We have been so fortunate to have had so many interesting books and exciting characters.  The children will be receiving some reading rewards while
creating the mask.  After creating the mask they will sharing their thoughts about the stories and characters.

Because we are wrapping up this year (with much sadness) the children are permitted to bring in a towel so we can read outside.  The children may bring in a board game, puzzle book, word searches,
or anything they think would be of interest.

Again I thank you so much for all your support and kindnesses throughout the year.  You have amazing children and that is because you are a group of amazing parents.

I will miss my second grade family.

Thanks,
Judy

February 27th
Time is flying by…..Yikes! The children have been busy learning so much math…and they are stretching their brains.  Our reading unit "A Long Journey to Freedom" made us aware of Ruby
Bridges and the sadness of segregation.  We finished Charlotte's Web.  And we learned that size does not matter.  When we apply ourselves we can achieve anything.  In Religion we have opened our hearts to forgiveness.  Even though we hit a few bumps in the road, the children and I discussed the importance of being kind and understanding to each other.  We are looking forward to celebrating Annabelle's birthday - Sunday, March 1st.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY.

I am looking forward to returning to school tomorrow.  We will return on Ash Wednesday, and we will attend mass.  All the students will be in their winter uniforms for the mass.  Our class does not have gym tomorrow so we will be good to go.
Be safe driving!

Please do not run out to purchase these as my angels can create them.  They will be creating a valentine bag to hold all of the cards.  We will be giving the cards out on Friday, Feb. 13th.  Sorry for the short notice!

All the children arrived safe and sound to school!!

January 29th

Congratulations to the students and their families for the service project's success.  The children raised $35,578.50 for the Mini - Thon  FTK For The Kids.  The day proved to be successful in many ways.  Our children heard stories of real children from our own community who have been effected by cancer as well as worked together in a fun way to raise money.  Many thanks to the teachers that organized and the administration with Father Citino who allowed the event to take place at Nativity; to the countless parents and local businesses for all their generous contributions of time, talents and food; and most of all to the children and their families for all their support of this heartbreaking cause.

Also we will be planning our Cowboy celebration for the beginning of February.  If you could loan us a cowboy boot and plastic snakes so we could play snake in the boot we would appreciate it.  We have a parent willing to loan us a large horse to be used in the game of lasso the horse.  Beanbags would be great to play tossing the beanbag on to a square with 12 squares to turn and we will add the numbers (simulating horseshoes).  So if you have plastic snakes, a cowboy boot, or beanbags to loan us I would be grateful.

Thanks for all your support!

Happy Catholic School Week, to celebrate the children will not have any homework to do with you.  Any work that needs to be completed will be done in the classroom.
Tuesday is supposed to be our time to visit all the countries represented in NOOL; Wednesday is Student Appreciation Day and the Home and School will provide a treat for the children in the afternoon; Thursday is Mini-Thon Day; Friday is Teacher's Appreciation Day.
We are preparing for our Cowboy Celebration.  My Myers and I will be working together to have this on February 10th or 17th.  We will have many activities and the children will be putting on a dance taught by Mr. Myers.  It is so much fun!
Please be safe with this storm approaching.
Thanks for all you do.

January 10th
We have survived our re-entry to school.  Again thank you so much for all your well wishes and generosity.
My angels returned to school ready to resume their roles as the best kids in my world.  I understand that math may be causing undo stress at night with homework.  PLEASE do not spend any more than 10 minutes on the work.  If it is causing an upset family time, just stop and write 10 minutes on the page and I will know we have to reteach the concept.  Your children do their very best everyday in the classroom so I know that the math concepts will become second nature.
Enjoy your weekend.
