1st and 2nd grade are going to be VERY busy in May and June!!
Here are a few important dates:
May 8th- Grandparents Bingo *Students will bring a snack to share with grandparents during bingo.
May 13th- ***2nd grade ONLY*** Special Person Day 9am  *info was sent home from your child's 2nd grade teacher*
May 15th- Field Trip *students will wear regular uniform NOT gym uniform!
May 16th- Archbishop Wood Science Fair  *Wood AP students will present a hands-on science fair for 1st and 2nd grade. Students must bring a reusable grocery bag to carry all the handouts they receive from the Wood students. 
May 17th- Field Day *Students may wear their gym uniform. Don't forget to send a water bottle (with your child's FULL name on it) and apply sunscreen to your child.  Students may bring a towel or blanket to sit on while we watch the tug-o-war. 
May 20th-23rd- End of year assessments *schedule & study guides will be provided by your child's teacher
May 24th-27th- No school
May 30th- Ascension Thursday Mass  * 1st graders will sing to their 8th grade prayer partners at the end of mass.
May 31st- Tailgate Games Day *Students may wear gym uniforms. We will need parents to run games.  If you can not help at the event but have a game you are willing to share please let me know. Students should bring a towel or blanket to sit on during our pizza picnic lunch.
June 3rd- Summer Show & Tell * Students may bring in one item that will tell us something about their summer plans. Students must be able to tell 3 facts about their item/summer plans and answer 2 questions.
June 4th-   - Game Day *Students may bring in a board game to play with friends.  Students MUST know how to play the game and be able to explain the rules to friends. 
June 6th- No school
June 7th- Last day of school *9am Mass  11:55 Dismissal

A look ahead at Important Dates: 

Friday May 3rd:  Coin Project Due and First Friday Mass
Wednesday May 8th: Grandparents Bingo 
Monday May 13th: Special Person Day 

**Please note: Field trip permission slips and money ($19) are due! 

Homework:
For writing and math homework students will be assigned pages in packets to complete.Please keep these packets in their folders.These pages will serve as review for our finals. If your student should have any questions while completing the assignments, please let us know!

On Monday May 13th, 2nd Grade will be celebrating our Special Person's Day (this is in lieu of our Mother's Day Plays)!  Each student is allowed to bring 2 special people to help us celebrate.  2nd grade will be performing special Fairytale Plays to exhibit how far they have come as readers this year!  These plays will not require any costumes or things from home. The celebration will take place in our Church Hall at 9 am.  Students are asked to bring in "costumes" or items from their dress-up bins at home (baseball hats, bathrobes, king crowns, tiaras, tutus, etc) Please do not feel the need to buy anything!  


What we are learning: 
ELA- Finishing Seed to Plant 
working on personal narrative writings, and our fairytale plays 
Beginning the Mysterious Tadpole, words with "oo" "ew" "ue" and "ou" (our spelling words), contractions, story elements and subject verb agreement 
Math- completing chapter 8 (measurement), Graphing, and 3 D shapes 
Religion- Finishing Chapter 20 and beginning chapter 21 
Social Studies/Science- scholastic news, Earth Day and Growing things/Plants

Hello Friends!!!

Happy Monday!!!

We hope that you all had a lovely weekend! Here is a look ahead at our short week.  
Due to our short week there will be no homework.  Students are to continue working on coin project and reading logs! 

Important Dates: 
Wednesday April 17th: 2 PM Prayer service (girls, please remember all sweaters for church) 
A reminder, there is no school Thursday, Friday or Monday for Easter Break 

**Please remember to send in walk-a-thon permission and field trip permission slips ($19 for class trip)! 

What we are learning: 
ELA
Continuing with fairytales, reading Charlotte's Web, prefixes, idioms, story elements and proper use of commas, and building our fluency.
Math- Chapter 8 (measurement)
Religion- chapter 19, Lent, Holy Week and Easter
Social Studies/Science- Our environment and Earth Day (reduce, reuse and recycle)

Religion- Finishing chapter 18 (test tomorrow) and beginning chapter 19

Dear 2nd Grade Families, 

On Monday May 13th, 2nd Grade will be celebrating our Special Person's Day!  Each student is allowed to bring 2 special people to help us celebrate.  2nd grade will be performing special Fairytale Plays to exhibit how far they have come as readers this year!  These plays will not require any costumes or things from home.
The celebration will take place in our Church Hall at 9 am.  An invite from the students will follow, but we wanted to give you time to plan and save the date. We are excited to you show you what we have been working on, and we hope to see you there!

Dear Friends, 
Thank you so much for your generous donations towards the 2nd grade basket.  The 2nd grade moms were able to put together two beautiful baskets for Nativity's Big Night Out.
The first basket is a "backyard fun" that includes all the outdoor play items there were sent in.  
The 2nd is a "backyard bistro" set and includes an outdoor gas fire table, outdoor string lights, and milk jar cups!  
Thank you so much for your overwhelming generosity and to our talented homeroom moms who put it all together!  You guys rock!!!  
We hope to see you all there Saturday night and wish you all good luck!!!!

Hello Friends!!!

Happy April!!!
We hope that you all had a lovely weekend.  Here is a look ahead at our week.  

Important Dates: 
Wednesday April 3rd: Stations of the Cross at 2pm
 Thursday April 4th: 60th anniversary Concert in the Community Center.  Please see note below! 
Friday April 5th:  First Friday Mass at 9am 


Friday May 3rd:  Coin Project Due 


60th Anniversary Concert on April 4th:  The concert will begin in the Community Center at 7pm.  Students should be in their places (same as Christmas show) at 6:40 pm.  Students are to wear full uniform but they can add 90s decade flare to it.  We hope to see you all there! 

What we are learning: 
ELA- Beginning our story: Dex The Heart of a Hero 
Continuing with contractions,  prefixes, story elements and proper use of commas, and our spelling words "or" and "ore" words .
Math- Continuing chapter 7 (money and time)
Religion- chapter 18 We are God's Children 
Social Studies/Science- Earth Science (habitats, volcanoes, etc)
