Hello Friends!!!
Thank you all for your generous donations of tissues and wipes!  Your generosity was greatly appreciated! Also, Thank you for your generous contributions to our 2nd grade basket for Nativity's Big Night Out!!!  

Important Dates: 
March 18: Lunch Money Due
March 20: Stations of the Cross 
March 22: 2nd Trimester Report Cards


Important Information:
Terravovas will given the week of March 25th (Next Week).  Please make sure students are present and arrive to school on time.  Testing will begin right after morning bell.  Students should also have multiple sharpened #2 pencils for the test.  There will be no homework during this week!!! 

** Students have received a new Reader's Notebook and Math textbook, please be sure to cover these in clear contact paper! Thank you! 

What we are learning: 
ELA- Beginning our new story: Signmaker's Assistant.  We will be focusing on "ar" words (our spelling words), and the correct use of commas and punctuations while writing.  
Math- Finishing chapter 6 (three digit subtraction).   We will be beginning chapter 7: Money and Time 
Religion- Finishing chapter 16-  The Last Supper and beginning Chapter 17: We Give Thanks to God 
Science/Soc. Studies- Discussing signs and their importance in our communities

Hello friends!
 
We hope you all had a lovely weekend. Here is a look at what is happening this week.  
 
Important Upcoming Dates and Info:
 
2nd grade is currently accepting donations for tissues and baby wipes.  This cold season has hit us hard and we have depleted our supplies.  Any donations would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you in advance for your generosity! 
 
Student Council Bake Sale and Sock Donations: Student council will be hosting a bake sale during snack recess this week.  Bake goods will be $1.00.  They are also collecting sock donations for the needy.  Socks can be men's, women's or for children.  Thank you in advance
 
Pretzel Orders: Pretzel orders are due this Wednesday, March 13th 
 
3D Prize Day: 2nd grade has won a dress down day for this Friday March 15th.  We beat 1st grade in Penny Wars during Catholic Schools Week. Way to go 2nd grade!  Thank you for all of your Penny donations! 
 
Snow Folders: In the event of a snow day, please have the children complete the next page in each packet.  Packets will be collected on the day we return.  
 
Terranova Practice:  We have begun practicing for our Terranovas which we will take at the end March.  In preparation,  students can review these concepts at home:
- Practice identifying and counting coins
- Discuss who or what are on coins and how the coins look
- Review minute and hour hands, telling time, and how much time passes snow
 
 
 
This week we are learning:
ELA: Beginning our story, My Name is Gabrielle.  We will be working with Long E sounds (our spelling words), The verb be (am, is, are, be, was, were) suffixes, Combined subjects, and Narrative writing
MATH: Continuing chapter 6: 3 digit numbers (place value, modeling, problem solving,  fact families,  and regrouping/borrowing into the hundreds' place)
RELIGION: Chapter 16: The Last Supper
SOCIAL STUDIES/SCIENCE: Saint Patrick's Day, Planets, and Outer Space

Hello friends!
 
We hope you all had a lovely weekend. Here is a look at what is happening this week.  
 
Important Upcoming Dates and Info:
Donut Day and Mardi Gras Tuesday: Students who ordered a donut will receive it during lunch, students may also add Mardi Gras accessories to uniforms
Ash Wednesday: We will be attending mass on Wednesday at 10 am
Snow Folders: In the event of a snow day, please have the children complete the next page in each packet.  Packets will be collected on the day we return.  

Terranova Practice:  We have begun practicing for our Terranovas which we will take at the end March.  In preparation,  students can review these math concepts at home:

MATH: Continuing chapter 6: 3 digit numbers (place value, modeling, problem solving,  fact families,  and regrouping/borrowing into the hundreds' place)
RELIGION: Ash Wednesday, Lent and Chapter 15: We Gather for Mass
SOCIAL STUDIES/SCIENCE: Planets, Outer Space and communities
