Hello Friends!!!

Happy Halloween!!  This week is sure to be a fun one! 

Tomorrow is our saint parade!  All students should bring their costumes to school, please make sure all parts are labeled!  We will be parading around at 9am out back.  We are looking forward to seeing you all there!

Wednesday November 1st will be a full of school!  We will be going to mass at 10 am.  Please wear your winter uniform on Wednesday (Miss Bontempo's class will still have gym class, but they will wear their regular winter uniform.  

This week we are learning:
ELA: Finishing the story, Teacher's Pet.  We will continue practicing our fluency, identifying consonants blends, and working with plural and singular nouns.  We will also continue narrative writing.  
MATH: We will begin chapter 3, adding and subtracting digits.  We will be preparing for regrouping (borrowing).  We will also keep practicing our addition and subtraction facts.  
RELIGION: All Saint's Day and our Saints' Parade
SOCIAL STUDIES/SCIENCE: Continuing discussion of communities, and being a good citizen.  Also discuss germs and how to fight colds.

Good Morning all!!!

Happy Monday!

SPECIAL NOTES: 
Conferences are to be held this week.  Please see sign-up from office for your date and time.  We are looking forward to meeting with you all!

Thursday October 26th: Early Dismissal 11:55 
Friday October 27th: No school due to conferences

Looking ahead: Our saint parade will be on Tuesday October 31st.  
Students should wear their uniforms and bring with them to school their costumes.  Please make sure everything is labeled (we don't want anything to get lost).  Students can begin to bring in costumes in a bag if they are ready.  Remember, costumes can be simple (bathrobes, pillowcases, old shirts etc). 

Also to our parents and friends who will be joining us, our parade is scheduled to begin around 9:00am.  We will be parading outside in the back school yard with the pre-k and k friends (weather permitting).  

This Week we are learning:
ELA- Beginning our story of Teacher's Pet, building our fluency
Phonics- Blends (gr, sp, cl, sw, dr, st, sk, gl)
Writing- Types of sentences and kinds of nouns 
Math- Continuing with numbers in the 3 digits.  Modeling and comparing 100s. 
Religion- Saints and Chapter 5: Jesus is the Son of God 
Social Studies- Our Community, diversity  
Science- Cause and Effect

Saint of the Month: Saint Laura of Montoya (Patron Saint of those who suffer racial discrimination)

Looking ahead for this week:

SPECIAL NOTES: 
We will be having a performance by the Windy City Players on Thursday. 10/19.  Due to the performance lunch has been moved to 11:45.  If you are a lunchroom on Thursdays, please make note of the time change.  Thank you!

ELA- Beginning our story of Diary of a Spider, building our fluency
Phonics- Long O and Long U words, reviewing vowels and cVcE rule, Hard and Soft G 
Writing- Types of sentences and kinds of nouns 
Math- Continuing with numbers in the 3 digits.  Modeling and comparing 100s. 
Religion- Praising God through psalms 
Social Studies- Our Community 
Science- Cause and Effect, Spider STEM stations

Good Morning all!!!

We hope you enjoyed the beautiful weather this past weekend! 
Looking ahead for this week:

Dates to remember: 
Tuesday October 10th: All Fall Fundraisers are due
Wednesday October 11th: First Bank Day and PICTURE DAY (please remember to be in full winter uniform including sweaters and to bring your picture money to school) 

On Tuesday evening our Parish will be hosting the closing of 40 hours.  All students in the Nativity Parish are expected to attend.  We will meet at 6:30 downstairs in the Church Hall.

Phonics- Long A and Long I words (spelling test Wednesday), reviewing vowels and cVcE rule
Writing- Types of sentences and adding adjectives (describing words)
Math- Continuing with numbers in the 3 digits.  Modeling and comparing 100s. 
Religion- God the Father (Test Tomorrow on Chapter 3)
Social Studies- Our Community and Christopher Columbus 
Science- Cause and Effect, continuing our STEM project on inventing
