Happy Catholic Schools Week, friends!!!

 We hope you are all having a good start to your Monday!!

Here is a run down of all the exciting things happening this week: 

Important Dates: 
Monday January 29th- Open House
Tuesday January 30th- Cultural Diversity Assembly 
Wednesday January 31st- Student Appreciation Day- Ice Cream Treat from Home and School
Thursday February 1st- Community Service day.  PLEASE REMEMBER ALL FOOD DONATIONS ARE DUE TODAY
Friday February 2nd- Teacher Appreciation Day,  Mass, and Eagles Pep Rally (students may add eagles items to uniform). 

What we are learning: 
Math: Playing our STEM math games and continuing Chapter 5; 2 digit subtraction (modeling, regrouping, and break aparts). 
ELA: "Schools Around the World", vowel digraphs "EA" and "EE" (spelling words), compound sentences with more details, quotation marks, continuing our "how to" writings 
Religion: Catholic Schools Week: We are Many, We are One. Finishing Chapter 10, The Church. 
Social Studies/Science: Our Families and Heritage and Scholastic News: Predators and Prey 

We are so thankful for all of you and your dedication to our school.  We cannot thank you enough for all you do for the second grade. We hope you have a fabulous Catholic Schools Week and

Good morning friends!

We hope you are all having a good start to your Monday after last night's amazing game!  

Here is a run down of what is happening this week and a peek ahead: 

Important Dates: 
Monday January 22nd- February Lunch Orders Due 
Tuesday January 23rd- Religion Assessment Chapter 9
Wednesday January 24th- FAMILY PROJECT DUE, Test on "Ah Music"
Sunday January 28th- Open House for opening of Catholic Schools Week 

What we are learning: 
Math: Completing our STEM math games and Beginning Chapter 5; 2 digit subtraction (modeling, regrouping, and break aparts). 
ELA: Finishing "Ah Music", vowel digraphs "Ai" and "Ay"(spelling words), compound sentences with more details, idioms, and "how to" writings 
Religion: Beginning Chapter 10, The Church.  Also discussing Catholic Schools' Week theme: We are Many, We are One! 
Social Studies/Science: Our Families and Heritage

Hello friends!

Happy Snowy Wednesday.  Sorry that this email is delayed, the holiday on Monday altered our schedules.  

Looking ahead:
Important dates:
January 16th: Feb.  Lunch Module opens  
January 18th: Pretzel Orders due
January 19th:   February Lunch Module closes, EAGLES DAY (students can add Eagles gear to uniforms)
January 24th: Family Project Due 


This week we are learning:
ELA: Continuing our story: Ah Music.  We will be working with vowel digraphs "ai" and "ay" (our spelling words), idioms, compound sentences and adding details to our sentences
MATH: Finishing chapter 4 : adding and subtracting 2 digit numbers (problem solving, break a-parts, fact families,  and regrouping/borrowing)
RELIGION: Chapter 9: The Holy Spirit 
SOCIAL STUDIES/SCIENCE: Our families and heritage, Vibration is Sound 

Saint for the month of January: Saint Vincent DePaul

Hello friends!

Welcome back and welcome 2018!  We hope you all had a lovely break and a happy new year.  Here is a look at what is happening this week.  

Important dates:
January 10th: 3D Day 

Math Games: We have begun collecting materials to build our math games.The games will be made in groups during class time.  Materials we are looking for include: old game pawns or pieces, toy cars, cards, dice, timers, spinners, BOXES or POSTER BOARD.  Any materials you could share would be greatly appreciated.  We will begin building our games later in the week. 

My Family Packet:  This Catholic Schools Week we will be celebrating our school community and our belief that "We are many.  We are one." As we prepare to celebrate our cultures and differences, we will be learning more about where our families come from.  A family history packet will be going home today with your student (Tuesday January 9th).  We ask that you complete this fun project together.  All packets will be due Wednesday January 24th.  


This week we are learning:
ELA: Continuing our story: Click Clack Moo.  We will be working with plurals adding "s" and "es"(our spelling words), prefixes "pre" and "mis", compound sentences and building our fluency strategies
MATH: Continuing chapter 4, adding and subtracting 2 digit numbers (problem solving, break a-parts, fact families,  and regrouping/borrowing)
RELIGION: Chapter 8: Traveler to Emmaus and the Gospels  
SOCIAL STUDIES/SCIENCE: Our families and heritage 

Saint for the month of January: Saint Vincent DePaul
