Happy Monday!

Looking ahead:  Saint Projects (the construction paper banner) is due on October 18th.  All information regarding the project was handed out during Back to School Night.  If your child finishes and would like to turn in their project early, that is absolutely fine!  
Our Saint Parade will be held on the morning of October 29th, along with the PreK and K Halloween parade.  Saint Costumes should be simple.  Please do not feel you need to go out and buy one.  Costumes could be made with old bathrobes, sheets, dresses, etc.  Be creative!  Costumes can also be brought in early! Please make sure all parts of costumes are labeled with students' names!
We will also be wearing our costumes to First Friday Mass on November 1st in honor of All Saints Day. 
If you should have any questions, please feel free to contact your child's homeroom teacher!

Parent Teacher Conferences: Conferences will be held on the afternoon of October 29th and morning of October 30th.  

Important Dates: 

Friday October 18th: Written Saint Project Due and lunch module opens (November)

This Week we are learning:

ELA- Beginning our story of Teacher's Pet, building our fluency, parts of a story 

Phonics-  Consonant Blends with r, l and s 

Writing- Types of sentences and plural nouns 

Math- Continuing with numbers in the 3 digits.  Modeling and comparing 100s. 

Religion- Continuing chapter 4 Praising God through Psalms 

Social Studies- Heroes (Past and present) and Our Community 

Science- Cause and Effect, Parts of a Plant

Hello Friends!!!
We hope that you had a lovely weekend!  Here is a look ahead at our week!

Tuesday: 10/8  Closing of Forty Hours Devotion at 7pm 
Wednesday: PICTURE DAY for 2nd grade.  Please be in complete winter uniform 
Thursday: 10/10 Fire Safety: A visit from our firefighter friends
 
What we are learning: 
ELA- Beginning our new story: Diary of a Spider.  Identifying nouns, hard and soft G and C sounds, Narrative writings, context clues, and Long O and U words (spelling words) 
Math- Chapter Two Numbers to 1,000: greater than/less than/equal to, modeling numbers, and place value up to hundreds
Religion- Chapter Four: Praising God, A Scripture Story and psalms 
Science/Soc. Studies-  Plants and continuing communities/community helpers

Dear Friends, 
Looking ahead...
Important dates for the month of October:
October 4th: All Saint Names are due to Homeroom Teachers
October 7th: Winter Uniform Begins
October 8th: Yankee Candle Fundraiser Due
October 9th: PICTURE DAY! Please be in full winter uniform for pictures
October 29thSAINT PARADE and halloween parade (Students should bring their costumes in.  We will be parading with the PreK and Kindergarten outback of school around 9am! We will keep our costumes at school since we will need them again on Nov. 1st) Please remember it is an 11:55 dismissal!  
Nov. 1st: First Friday Mass- Second Grade will wear their Saint costumes during Mass to help celebrate All Saints Day! 
Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on the afternoon of October 29th and the morning of October 30th!
